Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII)
The approved PII insurer is Lawcover Insurance Pty Ltd.
Northern Territory solicitors are required to obtain approved professional indemnity insurance under section 376 of the Legal Profession Act 2006 (NT).
The Lawcover PII policy provides law practices with cover up to $2 million each claim, including claimant’s costs and defence costs. Lawcover also provides Top Up insurance, over and above the required primary $2 million limit.

CYBER RISK INSURANCE
NT law practices will have access to Lawcover's group cyber risk policy when they incept their PII insurance for 2020/21 with Lawcover (at no additional cost). Further information can be found at the bottom of this page.
From 1 July 2020, all claims must be notified to Lawcover. You can find out more about when and how to notify a claim or a circumstance which may give rise to a claim to Lawcover here.

Law practice’s may elect premium finance from a funder of their choice however Lawcover has facilities available with three premium funders if they choose to finance and repay their PII premium by instalment.
