APS4 Associate - Administrative Appeals Tribunal

The Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) conducts independent merits review of administrative decisions made under Commonwealth laws. We review decisions made by Australian Government ministers, departments and agencies and, in limited circumstances, decisions made by state government and non-government bodies. We also review decisions made under Norfolk Island laws.
The AAT falls within the portfolio of the Attorney-General

The role of the Associate is to provide high level support to Members of the AAT in providing a review process that is accessible, fair, just, economical, informal and quick.

The Associate’s primary duties consist of undertaking, assisting with case preparation for hearing, supporting the drafting and publication of orders, decisions and reasons for decisions, and pre-hearing liaison with parties and their representatives and may involve research.

The position is non-ongoing part time i.e., 3 days a week for initial 6 months with possible extension of up to 3 years. Hours can fluctuate at times pending on work load and training requirements.

Salary and conditions: $69,149 to $75,079 pa plus 15.4% superannuation
