The Law Society Northern Territory, Lawcover and CDU are pleased to offer a free CPD: Risk, Regulation and the ASCR.

1.5 CPD points are available in either Professional Ethics and Responsibility (CA) or Practice Management and Business Skills (CB). 

The event is supported by the Charles Darwin University School of Law and will be held at the CDU Danela Campus, 1.11 Festival Learning Space.

Elissa Baxter, Chief Legal Officer at Lawcover, will provide a presentation entitled Claims Happen: What Lawcover claims teach us and what to do if it happens to you which will detail coverage under the Lawcover policy and some lessons learned from its claims portfolio. Elissa heads up Lawcover’s legal, claims and practice support teams. She has over 30 years’ experience in dealing with claims affecting solicitors, and has supported hundreds of solicitors facing professional indemnity proceedings. She has been with Lawcover since 2010. Prior to joining Lawcover, Elissa practised for 15 years as a solicitor in Sydney and London, also specialising in professional indemnity litigation. Elissa still counts herself as a proud Territorian, though, having grown up in Darwin in the 80s, and retains her love of Paul’s Iced Coffee.

The Society will then provide a briefing on the adoption of the Australian Solicitors Conduct Rules in the Territory. This session will be presented by the Society’s Chief Executive Officer, Aislinn McIntyre and Regulatory and Policy Solicitor, Georgia Kalyniuk.
