The Aboriginal Areas Protection Authority is an independent statutory Authority established by the Northern Territory Aboriginal Sacred Sites Act (NTASSA) designed to effect a practical balance between the recognised need to preserve and enhance Aboriginal cultural tradition in relation to certain land in the Territory and the aspirations of Aboriginal and all other peoples of the Territory for their economic, cultural and social advancement by providing advice for the protection of sacred sites

Employment type: full-time
Hours/days of work: Monday to Friday 8am to 4:21pm
Salary and conditions: $86,204 - $103,377 plus superannuation, six weeks annual leave with leave loading and three weeks personal leave.
About the position: The person coordinates the holistic research analysis of Authority records (anthropology and land information) in relation to complex projects and provides strategic and operational coordination and advice to the Director, in accordance with the Northern Territory Aboriginal Sacred Sites Act.
The person draws together information from the anthropology, technical and governance Units to report and recommend outcomes with regard to compliance matters and complex projects.
Other conditions: Honours Degree (equivalent or higher) in Anthropology, Law or equivalent discipline.
Ability to undertake remote fieldwork via vehicle, boat or small aircraft for extended periods of time.
Manual Driver’s licence.
