The Aboriginal Areas Protection Authority is an independent statutory Authority established by the Northern Territory Aboriginal Sacred Sites Act (NTASSA) designed to effect a practical balance between the recognised need to preserve and enhance Aboriginal cultural tradition in relation to certain land in the Territory and the aspirations of Aboriginal and all other peoples of the Territory for their economic, cultural and social advancement by providing advice for the protection of sacred sites

Hours/days of work: Monday to Friday 8am to 4:21pm
Salary and conditions: $109,514 - $117,815 plus superannuation, six weeks annual leave with leave loading and three weeks personal leave.
About the position: The role manages and responds to complex inquires, complaints and alleged breaches of the Northern Territory Aboriginal Sacred Sites Act and provides assessment, investigation, compliance, auditing, risk assessment and enforcement services.
The person will lead and deliver the day to day compliance, enforcement and investigation functions for the Authority working closely with Aboriginal Custodians and legal representatives undertaking formal investigations.
Other conditions: The person with be required to obtain a working with children’s card and undergo a criminal history check. A criminal history check will not exclude an applicant unless it is relevant to the position. This position may be required to undertake travel to remote NT
communities and land areas at short notice via vehicle, boat or small aircrafts for extended periods of time.
