Overview

Many practitioners believe that tort law reform has taken the damages, costs, and fun out of medical negligence- but this is not the case.  The presentation will touch on some fundamental elements of law (including liability, damages and evidence).  Ben will suggest some practical tips for presenting the evidence in a way in which the judge can readily understand your case.

Speaker: Mr Ben O’Loughlin Barrister, William Forster Chambers

Ben was admitted as a solicitor and barrister in South Australia in 1990 after obtaining degrees in both Law and Economics. Ben first worked as a solicitor/clerk in London. He then moved to Darwin in 1993 and commenced work as a Police Prosecutor.

In 1995 Ben joined Cridlands solicitors where he practiced in commercial and general litigation together with some criminal matters. Ben joined William Forster Chambers in February 1998.  He has been the Secretary/Treasurer of the Northern Territory Bar Association for five years, Chairperson of Darwin Community Legal Service, and a Commissioner for the NT Football League.  Ben has a varied practice but has a particular interest in the Law of medical negligence, personal injury and building and construction.
