Overview

Constant technological change, including social media is a feature of modern life and legal practice that is here to stay whether we like it or not. If we are alert to pitfalls, we can avoid them and focus instead on the opportunities and potential these changes present. Learn from internationally renowned CPD presenter Stuart Teicher how to avoid technology’s hidden hazards (ethical and otherwise) and harness its power to improve your practice.

Topics include:
• New opportunities for effective communication
• How using social media could improve your practice
• Potential for the Code of Conduct Rules to be breached
• The effect public outrage has on the way we advise clients and stakeholders
• How cultivating connections and understanding expectation improves your risk management
• How to survive and thrive in your professional life
• And much more!

Stuart’s 2015 ‘Rock Star Lawyer’ workshop was very popular with the lawyers in Australia – see some feedback below:

Presenter: Stuart Teicher

Stuart Teicher is a professional legal educator who, through his entertaining and educational CPD performances help lawyers get better at what they do (and enjoy the process), survive the practice of law and thrive in the profession. A practising lawyer for over 20 years, Stuart focuses significantly on ‘technethics’ a term he coined to refer to the ethical issues in social networking and other technology. Stuart also speaks about ‘practical ethics’ – those lessons hidden in the ethics rules that enhance a lawyer’s practice. Stuart is a Supreme Court appointee to the New Jersey District Ethics Committee, where he investigates and prosecutes complaints against lawyers; an Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown Law, New Jersey where he teaches Professional Responsibility and an adjunct Professor at Rutgers University, New Brunswick where he teaches undergraduate working courses. Stuart’s philosophy, put simply, is this: I dream of a world where lawyers stay awake for CPD seminars.

Earn 3 CPD points in Professional Ethics & Responsibilities (CA) or Professional Skills in Legal Practice (CC) or Practice Management & Business Skills (CB).
