Merran Short completed her Bachelor of Laws at Northern Territory University (now CDU) and was admitted to the Supreme Court Northern Territory in 1994. Merran has worked in private law firms as well as in Government; she is currently an Associate at Withnalls Lawyers.
She has in the past held the following positions: President of the Law Society Northern Territory, a founding member and Treasurer of Australian Women Lawyers, President of NT Women Lawyers Association, Director of the Law Council of Australia and member and volunteer of Top End Women’s Legal Service.

Melissa is an Associate with De Silva Hebron, with a focus on Wills and Estate and Construction and Civil Litigation. Originally admitted in Queensland and possessing both Law and Accounting qualifications, Melissa has undertaken the Queensland Law Society Practice Management course and has a keen interest in practice management and the business of law. Melissa has also been actively involved in numerous board positions in other not-for-profit organisations and businesses since she was 18 years old and has developed keen business skills and an awareness of the many ethical and business challenges which lawyers may face.
