National Legal Profession Reform Task Force Print E-mail

Available for download below is press release by the Commonwealth Attorney General on three papers released by the National Legal Profession Reform Task Force.  As the Territory's sole representative on the Consultative Group I am endeavouring to work with other Law Society and Bar Association representatives and other territory stakeholders to ensure that the interests of the profession and other Territory stakeholders are best protected.

Copies of the papers are on the National Legal Profession Reform Task force Website or frim the Society.

Please contact me if you have any comments or queries.

The Consultative Group has discussed the trust accounts and PII papers and will be making further comments.  The Business structures and other papers ( yet to be released) will be discussed at future meetings of the Consultative group.

At this stage the Task Force is proposing to have a final Bill ready for consideration by COAG at its April 2010 meeting.   This will present challenges for all involved.
